Florida Any collected fees or expenses must be returned  within 48 hours if no employment was procured.
Agencies cannot require subscription to a publication, post card service, advertisement, resume service, photographer, video or audio tapes.
Hawaii Employment agencies cannot collect an advance registration fee.
Illinois An agency can only charge a maximum $4 registration fee, and only if granted such a permit. This fee is subject to return on demand if no position is procured. Agents cannot require a subscription to a publication, post card service, or advertisement.
Iowa No fees "or other thing of value in excess of $1" can be collected in advance by employment agencies.
Kansas Employment agencies cannot charge a registration fee of more than $2. If no employment is procured within 3 days, all registration fees must be returned on demand.
Kentucky Employment agencies cannot charge or collect advance registration fees. Employment agencies cannot require talent to subscribe to any publication or "incidental service or contribute to the cost of advertising."
Louisiana Employment agencies may charge a $10 fee for the preparation of a job resume, but cannot charge an advance registration fee. Employment agencies cannot require talent to subscribe to publications, or photographic service, postal card service, or letter service or to contribute to the cost of advertising.
Maryland Agencies cannot charge advance registration fees.
Massachusetts Agencies cannot charge advance registration fees. Agencies cannot require talent to buy subscriptions or contribute to advertising.
Missouri Employment agencies that charge registration fees must return all fees in full upon demand if employment is not procured within one month after registration.
Montana Agencies cannot charge or accept advance registration or application fees.
Nebraska Employment agencies cannot charge a fee more than $5 for advertising or reference checks, nor require talent to subscribe to any publication.
Nevada Employment agencies cannot charge "fees of any kind for registration of applicants." Employment agencies cannot charge "fees of any kind for the registration of applicants," or subscription to a publication, or as a contribution to advertising.
New Jersey Agents cannot accept fees for "a service rendered or a product sold" if no employment has been accepted.
